I have talked extensively to my Vet about food allergies. He has always stated it was a food allergy and we have tried many many different commercial dog foods in dry and canned dog food to help him but it remains the same, he kept getting sick and I firmly believe it is the additives in the dog food that are making my dog sick.

It stands to reason that by feeding your dog better quality food it will benefit his entire body.
While I've been looking for quality recipes, I've noticed that the implementation of these quality ingredients has the added ability to maintain the bones, hair, tissues of the entire body.
So as I come up with each recipe, I might add a little extra ingredient to it for the health of certain areas of the dogs system.
In this case I want to help my dog with skin allergies and hair growth.
To do this I would add Omega 3 fatty acids. It not only has the ability to keep my dogs cardiovascular system going strong but it also promotes the growth of the hair, bones and nails.
A healthy diet will take pounds off a fat dog and help him live longer. I have seen so many pudgy pooches walking down the street obviously tired and out of shape. Who wants to play when they don't feel good? No play means no exercise means fat pooch.
Try to make your own meals for your dog. If you're super rich have someone do it for you. There are all sorts of niche companies out there willing to make dinner for your dog. I say if you can't do it yourself and can afford it, have someone do it for you. You will feel better and your dog will live longer. It just makes sense.
I love my dog and if I have to make some extra food so that he can feel better and live a little longer then I'm going to do it.
With my pet, it starts out with him not looking too good, he' s off and he doesn't want to play much. He doesn't bring me the ball or toy.
Dog Allergies can cause happy dog to lose interest in life. He will look unwell and have no energy to play and chase the ball. You might notice that he isn't as hungry as he use to be. Sometime he comes up to the bed to sleep with me and be cuddled.
Pet food allergies; so pervasive in the dog chow we are encouraged to buy. I am so ashamed at the pet food industry for not listening to so many concerned owners as they struggle with dog food allergies.
I was checking all the brands of dog food the other day at the local pet shop. I wasn't at the grocery store or a Petco or large chain. I was at a small specialty shop that sold special food of very high quality.
I have been doing research on dog food allergies and different types of breeds of dogs. I have talked to dog owners who buy certain kinds of pet food because their dogs have allergies.
Did you know that there is a dog food kibble that has absolutely no grains in it whatsoever? I didn't know that. The commercials we see on Television and on the web keep telling us that we need to give our dogs the finest grains and all the other junk they put in their food. I say poppycock! We have a choice and I almost didn't find it. But in talking to all the owners and the pet shop owners I found to my delight that there are good dog foods out there that will not cost you an arm and a leg to buy.
I had been buying a prescription diet, only available through my vet. In my research I found out the this company provides this food to the vet and the vet marks it up by 50%.
When a small animal vet can't find anything wrong with your dog but still the dogs is vomiting and lethargic, they push this incredibly expensive dog food on you that contains grains, corn and other low quality food products in it.
So I tested some pet food to see if my dog's allergies would get better or worse.
I opened the bag to find that it looked exactly like the really expensive vet food but it didn't have that greasy smell that you just can't get off your hands.
I found out later that the vet food was coated in this smelly greasy (Old Mac Donald's fat) substance so the dog would eat it.
I fed it to my dogs and each day I looked for symptoms. There were none. And this food was half the price.
So I talked to even more people who worked in the pet industry but not in the sale of dog food. They gave me a list of foods that were made with good ingredients and some, as I mentioned before, without fillers such as corn or wheat.
Dogs do need protein and they do need vegetables but why feed them corn or wheat? It's not necessary. And the quality of the corn and wheat is so very bad. I'm sure we still import it from countries that don't even care what goes into growing these grains so why are we feeding them to our dogs!
We don't have to. There are many good dog foods out there. It just takes a little searching and your dog will feel better. In these times of recession and depression we need to watch our expenses but at the same time give our dogs the best food we can for dog food allergies.
