Chicken and Rice dog food recipe.
Chicken and human grade rice always makes a good meal for allergic dogs.
This is a particularly good recipe for most dogs because it uses organic chicken, vegetables, rice and other healthy ingredients for your homemade dog food.
I'd like to talk a little bit about rice. There are so many out there. Different brands, different types and from different countries.
I tend to buy the best rice from India.
I do not trust grains from China because their standards for pesticides and additives to their grains and other food stuffs are not up to par with the rest of the world.
I also like the fact that Basmatti rice does not get sticky.
Dog food can end up in big clumpy messes that is like peanut butter. It sticks to the roof of the dogs mouth and it's hard for them to eat.
This is particularity important if your dog has lost any teeth.
You would want something that is easy for them to get down their throat and sticky rice is good for sushi but not good for Fido!
Also watch out for rice that has not been milled, as in brown or wild rice.
It has a hull on it and some dogs with sensitive stomachs or ones with Colitis could have problems digesting the hard hull because it will go in the dog and out the dog intact.
The digestive system does not break it down.
